What is Acousticoat™?

Acousticoat™ is a soundproof paint applied using a two-step
process: two layers of a “mass-building” Base Coat followed by two
layers of a “resilient” Finish Coat. By increasing surface mass,
Acousticoat™ reduces sound transmission through internal walls
and ceilings. The resilient Base Coat retains its flexibility over time,
while the durable Finish Coat provides a surface ready for painting
or wallcoverings of your choice.

Acousticoat™ is a proven soundproofing solution that can be
sprayed directly onto existing surfaces or applied during new
construction. This innovative sound-absorbing system helps reduce
noise while saving on cost and labour. Typical applications include
hospitals, hotels, schools, flats, home media rooms, offices, retail
spaces, and general construction projects.

Soundproof Paint – Acoustic Performance and Noise Reduction

The Acousticoat™ sound reduction system requires a two-step application: two coats of the resilient Base Coat followed by two coats of the mass-building Finish Coat to achieve a total thickness of 25–35 mils. Only those with experience in airless spray applications or professional painters/coating specialists should apply this product.

Step One: Base Coat Application

✔ Prime the surface before beginning.
✔ Apply two coats of Base Coat using a commercial airless sprayer.
✔ Due to the viscosity of the product, stir thoroughly with a paddle or drill-mixer.
✔ Apply each coat with vertical and horizontal passes to ensure even thickness.
✔ Allow 20–40 minutes between coats, or until the surface is dry to the touch.

Step Two: Finish Coat Application

✔ Apply two coats of Finish Coat for optimum performance.
✔ Stir thoroughly before use.
✔ Apply evenly using the same vertical/horizontal cross-coating technique.
✔ Wait 20–40 minutes between coats, or until dry.
✔ Once cured, the surface can be painted over with any paint, including water-based or oil-based types.
